72 in 2nd!

CUPSIZE, have you had this speed of 72mph accuratly verified or or you going on your innacurate speedo?

People have already said this to you, but it doesnt quite make it into your brain. Every CUP is fitted with THE SAME GEARBOX, with THE SAME RATIOS, which make it a physical impossability for your car to actually be doing 72mph in second.

I might go outside and fiddle with my speedo do it idles at 70mph, by my reckoning I will be able to do 100mph in first! Woo-Hoo ROFL!!!!!

when i test drove a cup the speedo was out by 20 mph, yes 20 mph, at 40 it said 60 etc, the dealer was embarrassed as theyd done 100miles without noticing and i spotted it straight away. vts bounces off limiter at 66 with a 7.3-7.4 ish redline so with a chip i wonder what i could do? hmm, would really scream then

I just went out in my Cup and can do about 63 mph in 2nd (cant be 100% but its roughly that) Also had a wee run with Teady and lets just say Ive got a good u! Had to change @ 6500 rpm in 2nd so I wouldnt hit his arse and then when I did put in 3rd I still had to power even tho I didnt rev it to 7 k in 2nd to pull along side him and start to take him, I then pulled back in knowing id proved a point. And thats a 172 that can do 95 mph @ 15.0! A proper good un. Had a few races through some round abouts and its pretty even but Teady has mastered his 172 so I dont expect to be able to take him round corners for a while yet.

youl av to give it a blast at york or the pod mate, as various forums (rightly or wrongly) dismiss crail as being a bit out, its the cold scotch air that does it!

Nah I believe Teadys times because my pal with a 195 hp/240 lb ft Cupra Ibiza was running 15.0 on the same day which is about spot on for that car if not a touch slow.

Crail about 2 years was giving some silly readings, remember the guy with the 172 that we spoke to Teady with the 172 he said he was doing 14.5s a coupe of years ago and with the new timing kit cant brake 15.7 or soemthing sh*tty like that!

that might be it then. but like i said only what i read, but maybe the air temp is a factor in this sorta thing too, 14 milnig must be best on a really cold dry day i bent witn no bloody front wint

Thought so. I had it too but uninstalled it and installed Sygate personal firewall 5.0. A lot better IMO. I found that some sites didnt load properly with Zone Alarm. You can download it from

Out of interest Griff, why so much better. Ive been using ZAlarm for a year or two with no problems. What extra features does the Sygate one have? Is it really worth changing?

My Cup hits just over 70 in second gear too.

I have an 8,000rpm redline though. Im not saying CUPSIZE is lying, because his speedo may well say 72, but I would imagine it is far more inacurate than it should be.
