9k for a trophy

I'd buy that all day long.

9 grand, for what is essentially a 'new' version of one of the best hot hatches ever, that they dont make anymore.

In fact, if i hadnt just bought the 330, id probably have it, just so that i could say i had the highest mileage Trophy, & the lowest.

Utter bargain.

i personally wouldnt pay 9k for it but i would consider spending 7.5k-8k as its worth that sorta money with that mileage provided it can all be backed up with service history

If I was on the hunt for a clean trophy that I planned to keep for a while, this would be the one for me!

Flol at 9k being too much!

Oh to see CS in 2030 when the car is worth 25k. Tbf like the Frp that's up for sale (with more mileage) it's a collectors example not an everyday buy.

If he had wanted to sell it to some young chav he'd have called Dave and said call it 6k. ;) He wants to sell it to someone who will store it. Or someone stupid enough to spend 9k on it and then pump miles on it. Erm bad idea mate.

Exactly.

In 2004, i was offered an E30 M3 for £8k (normal price at the time), but as i didnt fancy LHD, i bought a 328i Sport instead. So one of my mates bought the car, used it for a bit, then stuck it in his parents barn for a few years.

Roll forwards to 2011 & he is buying a house, so puts the M3 up for sale. He sold it for £19k 3 weeks ago to a chap in Germany.

I was sick a little, & regret that now, i will probably never be able to afford a good e30 M3 ever again.

extremely low miles + limited edition of 500 = worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

And at 9 grand someone will pay for it. So I don't agree it's too much

Crazy, you'd struggle to get return on your investment like you with some cars.

I think the Trophy at that mileage could end up a shrewd buy.

I know it's just a Clio and that's at the back of my mind as it's not totally special as usual with Renault special editions, no bespoke shell ect and it also maybe doesn't have the following of Classic Fords and Bmws but If the miles were kept under 10k I can't see why it wouldn't rise in value.

Im sorry, perhaps im missing the bit of the ad that says 'Cat C', but just out of interest, why would you not spend £9k on that?

Serious question by the way, im intrigued.

Because I don't see why low miles justifies an extra 4k

It's one of the most revered hot hatches of the modern age, almost the last of them when the more bloated 197/200 et al came out. Of course it's not 205gti basic but it's probably as close as you'll get whilst not dying in a lift off oversteer accident. ;)

I don't see the problem.

Don't hate me you two, but I still think it's a little on the expensive side of things...

If it goes for 8, then fair enough, but 9 is a lot of money for what is essentially an old red Clio that hasn't been driven a lot. I see your point on it being a collectors example etc, but I still think the premium he's added is a bit too high.

Like what's been said already, it is priced at that figure for an enthusiast/collector to store, look after, and put about 1000k miles tops on it per year.

Admitedly I think 9 is high, 8 I would say is a fair amount, but if someone will meet the asking price then thats up to them!

Wont the V6 always cast a shadow over the long term collectable prospects of these?

hi,
£9k is a lot of money, but is it worth it? Well, as somebody has already pointed out, it worth what someone will pay for it. If you want to keep it 10 years, you would certainly see a return. I sold my last Escort Mk1 RS2000 for £1000, in 1990. Nice ones are fetching £25000 now.
They made approx 2750 Mk1 RS2000's and they are very much sought after. Only 500 Trophys, considered to be the best hot hatch of the decade,................If I had space in my garage, I would!

I would say even the V6 wouldn't shadow the Trophy. They will both be collectable in the future I think, besides there was only ever one version of the 182 Trophy....It didn't take 2 attempts to get it right (Not that I am biased much!) Especially if EVO keep banging on about it :D.

More than happy to have mine on the drive.

Worth the money all day long, Altho if you bought that as a daily and put loadsa miles on it you'd be a daft c**t.

Either buy that and barn it or buy a 6k example for everyday.

Trackdays you say??? ;)

Aren't Trophys to be had just for the merits of polishing/posing & regular damper rebuilds? :rasp:

BOT, personally I'd rather spend a little more and get a vee. Irrespective of mileage, 9k for a Trophy? No thanks :(

Future classic to be honest. Besides its a barely run in car for just under 9 grand, what else can you buy for that money that has that amount of miles and is as fast/good in the twisties?
