i am currently selling my clio 172 cup. my mate came and had a look at the car and would like to buy it for wat i want for it he said if i drop it round his tonight he'l give me a cheque i no hes got the money and hes a good mate of mine but a bit unsure about having a cheque. hes a very good mate but dont no wat to do as i need the money and not had much luck selling it

advice please!!!

You Tit.

Don't let them have the car until the cheque has cleared. EVER. Why can't he give you cash? If hes got money, he can draw it out the bank surely?

Come to work, let me b**ch slap you....

ive seen this happen to people with 'good mates'.

not worth the risk at all.

you hand over the keys when the cheque has cleared, full stop.

Go to his bank & do a cash withdrawl, or transfer to your account.

If you do the cheque route, do not hand over keys or paperwork till it clears.

my boss said he can do a cheque clearance check? or something like that its just he cant get to the bank today cus hes working and same tomorow

i dont care how good any friend is. Id want the money in my hand before i parted with anything. as the X-files says TRUST NO ONE!

Cheques are not good business these days. Look at alternate methods of payment or refuse to sell. Not worth the hassle.

And he doesn't sound like a 'good' mate if you are not confident his cheque will clear. I bought my mate's car on my credit card until his loan cleared, but I had no doubt I would get the cash.

As everyone has said before - wait until it's cleared. Or go to the bank with him on Saturday morning :)

You fixed the problem you had a while ago with the engine?

When i bought mine, i did a bank transfer. Easy to do, and cleared funds in their accounts.

My bank told me that bankers drafts are NOT guaranteed funds, which i always thought there were.

Transfer has to be the safest as its in your account, cash might be counterfeit (although thats prob unlikely in this case).

Illiot ma bwoy, do a bank transfer. Its a peice of piss.

Why aren't you at work? Why are you selling the car? are you still tapping that fittie? what you going to drive next? have you got tha MR two turbo yet?
