a couple of problems

  E300TD, 03 Clio 1.6
hi all we have just bought my wife a 2003 clio 1.6 16v for my wife

and am having some problems with it first one the clutch is really really high for the biting point is this normal ? clutch don't seem to slip tried the 5th gear trick and it stalls straight away is their any adjustment for it or is it a matter of living with it?

also when starting up from cold it really don't was to run, sits at around 450rpm and will stall at junctions or when trying to reverse, once warm still ticks over at 450rpm, now i believe alot of this is link to one of three things, temps sensor, icv or the maf i suppose it could be linked to a faulty o2 sensor but with no check engine light i would doubt it. any ideas on this is it a common thing ?

also it could be linked but if i sit the revs where is should be @900 rpm or when cold at 1500 rpm it hunts a little bit about 400 rpm

any help would be appreciated
