A good service??

So after a month of owning my valver, ive finally got it how i want it,
(£700 odd pounds later :( )

so i want to give it a good service!
(promped by watching last nights top gear with the avantime dropping 40bhp after 6 years!!)

so what should be on my list of things to change??

ive already changed the grearbox oil with the clutch,

so
plugs
oil
oil filter
feul filter

what else should i be looking at?? i want to try and scrape back any lost power, and make her abit happier

worryingly there was no service history with the car, but a box of reciepts where people have done work themselves, and they have spent a huge amount of money, and the dates imply its been looked after. However these is no evidence of cambelt, its on 90k and ive inspected the belt, look in good condition, so im assuming its been changed. Im tempted to put it on the list either way.

Engine mounts are done?

I'd add GB oil to your list, can never hurt, and is often missed out.

Pollen filter, get things smelling a bit nicer inside.

possibly one of the best mods ive done so far tbh,

my ones were pretty spongy on one side though,
feels like a different car now, so much more predictable means you can throw it in with confidence!

id recommend them!

getting the old ones out were an absolute cnut though! unless you have a big press,
i ended up using a big vice to push them out, still have to hammer the handle round!
mine were possibly a lot older than yours though!

Who did the welding mate? Maybe I'll just pay for someone to fit them... lol!

Make sure you change the pollen filter, it makes such a difference to how sitting in the car "feels" if it hasn't been done in ages.

it doesnt smell too bad in the car, but might change the pollen filter anyways lol,

got my mates mechanic to weld them in, then i had to grind out the insides,
and then since its hard to measure the position of the sleaves i had to grind the sleeves down.

might be easier to just pay someone to do it tbh lol

is there any way to check the cambelt other than the reciept??
if it hadnt been changed it would be 18k overdue, and im sure it would look in a very bad way!
but as said, that doesnt really put my mind at rest lol

well the engine has been out within the past two years,
so once again, id like to think someone with half a brain did it then!

but i really need to start ringing some on the numbers on the reciepts and find out when/if it was done dont i lol

You have numbers and you haven't just given them a call?

Thing is, unless the last owner was a bit odd, why wouldn't he keep a log of the belt change date? Sounds silly but have you checked in the service book. Mine was written in pen ontop of a normal service "Cambelt included" or whatever. Almost went un-noticed.

I'd be on the phone tomorrow mate.

previous owner owned the car for 2 months, and didnt really touch it as far as im aware,

its gone through a few owners in the past years, i have no idea who the number are too,

the service history on an official notice was lost years ago as it seems most of the owners have taken it under their own wing to service the car

ima get on the phone this week i think,
