A quieter/better looking backbox...any ideas?

  172 MKII FF
Hi,

I purchased a RS 172 several week back and was originally deterred by the huge dual pipe exhaust sticking out of the back. I 'kind of warmed' to it but decided this week that I basically don't like it. It looks too big, is slightly lob-sided and is too loud for my liking. I managed to find some serial information on the left of the box and it is a Maxnex exhaust.

The condition of the exhaust looks perfect.

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for a quieter (with a little noise - not like a standard factory fitted one), perhaps a single pipe or small double pipe that will look good. Bearing in mind the car is a 172 - what exhausts look good on these?

Cost? Fitting? etc

Thanks,

Is this something I can fit? Or would it be better to take it into an exhaust place and get them to fit it correctly?

Will MPG increase?

Very nice.......i like this a lot. How much would this have cost? Are these type of exhausts noisy? I'm not into deep bass noisy ones that drone on the motorway.

Where can I look at having this done?

Oh no....not another big, droopy lop sided Magnex!

As a previous Magnex owner I'd reccomend the stealth:D

Cost? Fitting? etc

I took my car to kwik fit for a rattling noise and it turned out to be a loose fitting bolt at the front of the exhaust, whilst I was there I asked Kwik fit to have a check of the Magnex exhaust I have on at the moment. They looked at it and said everything was fine apart from it not being fitted correctly. It drops slightly at one end and seems to be a tad wobbly. I've asked for a price for a replacement centre and backbox from Kwik Fit, but apparently they couldn't supply the exhaust because only Renault and someone in Leeds supply them.

I am thinking I will replace this exhaust because 1) it isn't fitted correctly 2) It looks s**t and 3) Just don't like it. The question is now, should I look for a cusom fitted exhaust OR get a standard one from Renault/other supplier?
