A track car, a decat and a post cat lambda?

  Clio 182
Hi all, I've had a search around and I can't quite find what I'm looking for so I wondered anyone could give me some advice.

I'm just fitting a decat to my 182 and I've just realised I need to do something with the post cat lambda. I seem to have a few options, plug the lambda into the decat, plug the lambda into a lambda sleeve I have and bung the decat or just unplug the lambda and bung the decat.

With it being a track car I don't care about emissions lights etc, I was just wondering if there is a best method with regards to the engine performing better? But am I right in thinking that the post cat lambda doesn't really do anything for performance, it's just there to monitor the cat? In which case can I just disconnect it or is that not such a good idea?

Any help would be really appreciated!

I cut the cable off a dead lamda sensor and put that in the second lambda hole on the decat.

The actual second sensor is plugged in and tucked up neatly above the heatshield. Hey presto no dash lights :p

Bung the hole in the decat with a bolt and just unplug the sensor.

Rear sensor does nothing anyway so its fine to unplug. I've been running like this for 3 years no issues and no dash light.

Thanks guys, hipwell has mostly answered my question. Like I say I don't care about lights being on, I already have half the dashboard lit up after removing airbags and abs etc, I'm just wondering whether there is any difference in the way the car will run. The decat came with a bung so the easiest was is to just unplug the rear lambda so as long as there is no negative effect on performance I'll just go with that

Not really second lambda is only there to protect the CAT and the first lambda is for fuel/air mixture.
