You can buy them from renault parts dept. Bugger to get off though, apparently, although I have never tried.

is it worth the hassel or should i just get my local garage to fit a new drive shaft for 100ish

If you do, get them to fit a genuine renault part!! The abs sensor which sits abouve the ring sometimes needs to be set up to get a clear reading if it's been boshed by the split / loose ring, it's a daft measurment aswell (set to fractions of a mm) so i'd be suprised if you can do it by eye.

Myself and another lad on here both suffer from slight 5k rpm vibrations from the shafts because they are not geniune Renault, it is not serious and it doesn't spoil performance but it is due to the drive shafts (fitting and part came to £350 irrc on both sides so not cheap even for pattern parts)

Renault drive shafts aren't badly priced but the gimp behind the desk couldn't tell me which ones my car took unless I took my car to renault so "they could do the work" and at £75 per hour.....

my local garage said they'd fit a new driveshaft for £150

had a quick read here http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=279837&highlight=abs+ring

and it said 'Drive shaft gaiters can fail like any car and since there such a pain to properly chnage for proper Renaul ones often best getting a whole new shaft which ins't cheap Abs rings can come loose (east to chnage realy) and cause ABS warning lights a new ring can be bought but many dealers cannot find the part number/price but they are there'

so might see if my local garage can fit a new ABS ring instead

Yeah i read about a million posts before I went and had the work done. I dont know how the rings fit on, wether they are welded into place or just smacked on. Either way I think the ring is about £30.

I would say if your car has done high miles get a new shaft.
At the end of the day the cv joint and gaitor and shaft is all new then. If you are going to be selling the car soon just get a ring fitted.

My car was on 85k when the rings went so I plumped for brand new shafts and the new shafts have probably got another 80k of life in them. What I didn't want to happen was to change the rings and then have the gaitors or cv joits go in a another 5k miles and have to replace the shafts anyway wasting more money. The car feels alot tighter and smoother with the new shafts anyway.

Well, £150 for one side is a good price, it's probably the best option. I paid about £25 more than that per side on mine.

half a mill to 1mm not difficult to set don't need to realy it its undamged evn if it did its esy enough to do (assuming you get move the dan things there such a pain to get out you end up ruining them anwya.
