abs sensor types, and cheap ebay worthwhile?

Need to replace my front abs sensor.(warning light has come one since replacing the bearing today).
There seems to be a couple of versions, one looks thinner than mine, is this just a different style or a different unit completly.
also a possible different connector?
It appears the types are based around a change in 02, I assume this is the intro of esp and not a phase1/2 change.
Car is ph2 2002 172 without esp.
Can anyone enlighten me with the full gen.

You can't use ESP sensors on non-ESP cars. I've currently got the wrong type on the rear of my car and they don't register a speed at all so the abs doesn't work.

I'm pretty sure the non-ESP sensors aren't even that expensive from Renault anyway

I would also inspect the ABS rings first of all. You never know, it could be that one of those is exceptionally dirty/cracked/broken.

I had a rear one that split, a few dabs of superglue in strategic places and held it till it cured.

20'000 miles later and still no faults.
