accelerator cable broken??

I am not a technical person when it comes to cars.

My car has recieve a problem this morning.

The rev counter shoots up as soon as i switch the car on and when i drive, i dont have to press on the accelerator pedal for the car to move forward, it does it itself. I managed to get the car back outside my house.

I am awaiting recovery service from adrain flux to come.

Do you think its the accelerator cable thats gone, and is it an expensive fix..?

My car developed this fault on the way down to Newquay this week!!

Car sits at 2,000rpm and will set off its self when letting the clutch up, but if i blip the throttle the revs settle back down to a normal idle..

I am thinking throttle cable problems

I have no problems when changing gears, the clutch seems fine etc. when i stick it in either gear, i then dont need to press the accelertor pedal for the car to move.

I started the car stationary again, and the car just high revs. ahhh

this is the first problem ive had with the car

ok 1st recovery guy couldnt get the car up to transport it as the car is too low. waiting for another recovery dude now.. long

Just sounds like the cable's getting stuck to me Jay.

Yeah just got confirmation that it was the accelerator cable. it is going to be replaced. Should pick up the car either tomorrow, depending if renault can deliver the part quick, if not, looks like tuesday... oh well, not that i really needed it this weekend anyway. gets into the artic blue micra
