ACCELERATOR PROBLEM

  FN2 Type R +MK6 Golf

Had my car in this week because its been playing up,every now and then it has been jumping.(not the cold jumping as well known)i rang renault who said it was the cold morning sensor(lmao)which for EU regs meant the car runs leaner to allow less emitions..

I let it go that week(last)but then jumps in my car 2 days ago and it wont rev at all, then suddenly springs into life.So enough was enough,i rang renault who said bring it in and well see.

Receives a phone call this a.m to hear a lovely receptionist asking me how id like to pay for the work done on my car.I say its under warranty, she says "oh well have to get back to you"

An hour later theres no phonecall and im now getting worried about the impending bill and why with warranty they think of charging me.I pick up the phone and talk to the service manager who tells me to cut a long story short ,that they cant decide whether to let me have the car back as warranty work or make me pay for it,(does each branch hold there own lottery to see who wins the free work off the day)Surely there must be set guidlines to see what falls into warranty work and what doesnt.

Anyway they tell me that i had a problem with my "fly by wire accelerator sensor"which controls my revs and that this time they would foot the bill and i will have my car back on monday ,apparently on fidling with it the engine managment ,the light came on on the dash and would not go off. With labour, new parts and re-mapping my new accelerator sensor would of cost me 3 pence short of £400 this really put the wind up me for when my warranty runs out.

Beware ..ian

Probably turn out that you just had a loose plug on the accellerator pot.

I have pulled mine off while idling, and the car sat at a constant 3000rpm (i think. it was a while ago). Had to switch off after plugging it back in.
