additional 12v supply

Hi All

i want to add an additional 12v supply in the boot.

is it easy enought to take the supply from the exisiting cig lighter and run it to the rear?

just a thought could i run more than one addional (one to rear seat and one to the boot?)

I took a supply from the cig lighter to under my dash for phone/sat nav

The extension works great but the cig lighter doesn't work if something is plugged into the extension

hmmm im curious because i was going to run a cig socket into the middle trim, by the rear window buttons, so people in the back of the motor can charge a phone as well lol. but if it will effect the front, hmmmm.

the additional 12v has turned up with 2 wires. Red and Black.

the feed in the car has 3? can anyone advise which 2 of 3 cables i need to get the feeds from?

electrics is not my strong point

I would imagine the third wire on the factory 12v socket would be for the illuminations.
just grab yourself a meter and test which is the live, earth and then switched live for the illumination and connect your red/black accordingly

That is right. I can't remember such colour wire is which though.

Why run a wire from the existing cigarette lighter? Just splice into the interior boot light wire.

When you shut the boot the lights goes off.

Checked tonight, the red/yellow is the main cable with the grey being the other. The blue wire is the lights

after some testing the above works

firdge will be happy in the back.

Had a look at mine again today...loose wire to the main cigar socket. ..fixed now, so both points fully working :thumbup:

I tapped into the wires just before the cigarette lighter connector...
The red and yellow is positive and the grey/black ish one is negative. I didn't touch the blue one its for the light
