Advice Needed ASAP

  Black/Gold 182
182 arrived today, but no tax disc! Bought it from uk Car Discount who have said that the tax disc was not obtained in time by Renault and is being posted recorded delivery today, thing is I have not yet paid for the car and they have told me that until I pay their cheque in the car is not insured? What do I do? How do I go about arguing for a discount? Can anyone appreciate how annoying it is having a brand new car outside I can't drive? I also currently have no documentation either, should I pay the money before I recieve this, what position would I be in if the car got damaged/nicked before I pay the money (it's on a driveway in a cul de sac so unlikely)

tbh i wouldn't have taken the car until all the relevant documentation had been sorted out.

Er.... You need to have insurance on the car to get your road tax disc in the first place. Are they giving you temparory insurance? Also its the end of the month so you should be getting 12 months and one weeks tax. Demand this to begin with!

Have you paid a deposit?

get on the blower and start moaning at them to sort their game out. So have you paid nothing for this car so far then? likewise to i would have wnated the docs on delivery.

I have paid deposit but nothing else, i did consider refusing the car, but have been waiting so bloody long for it I didnt want to have to wait for another delivery date in like 2 weeks time. I have insurance sorted and had to send them the certificate, but the bloike said its not actually insured until I pay, is this b****cks?

I'm not sure how new car deals all work, but I certainly wouldn't part with my money until I received the documentation and at least some assurance that tax and insurance is all ok. I'm sure they're fine but surely they can't expect customers to pay for a car that's missing essential items.

Just spoken to my insurance company and they said as far as they're concerned it's insured, so am not paying for it until I have tax and the registration document

Yup that is bull! demand to have all the documents before you handover your bankers draft / cash / cheque. Else kick up a fuss and ask to speak to the sales manager! Who buys a car without the neccasary documents? Plus you have paid for insurance and that is going to waste as you haven't got the car! Ask for extras or discount! If you walk away you might loose your deposit.

as above really mate get on the blower for the docs and when you ge tthem check them over to insure they are legit.

  Black/Gold 182
Cheers lads, at least I know I am insured and in a position to argue now, just driving me mad being able to look at it but not drive it, might have to give it a clean in a minute

  Black/Gold 182
well he actually told me that he couldn't believe I was witholding payment over a tax disc. Basically I can't see how to get a discount however, chances are i'm never gonna use uk-car-discount again anyway so they have no interest in giving me one so I'm just gonna have to rely on him arguing with Renault and trying to get me some sort of freebie which he doesn't really have incentive to do anyway. Bar witholding payment unless i get a discount I cant really see what I can do apart from tell everyone:

DONT USE http://www.uk-car-discount.co.uk/

I would ask to speak to his manager (Sales Manager) and state that you are not happy with the customer service you have received from this person and would like to bring it to his attention. Explain your concerns of purchasing a car without the tax disc and explain the inconvenience it is causing you. State that it has 'soured' your new car purchase experience and you are not currently happy with new-car-discount. Say that you are bringing this to his attention and hope that he can sort this problem out and rectify the problems. He should be trying to exceed your expectations, this gives them the opportunity to rectify the situation.

After all of this if he isn¡Çt willing to budge then tell them that you will not be recommending them to friends and family and explain that you are a member of this forum.

Give the Sales Manager the opportunity to rectify the situation. Be firm but far. And stat the facts.

will do, thanks for the advice everyone, I am glad I got all the toys with the full fat version but it does get a bit dull when you're just sitting on the driveway playing with them...

Yeah, as above, it isn't a sales advisor's place to state what he can or can't believe you are doing. You are not withholding payment purely because there's no tax disc, as I'm sure if you could guarantee you could pop to the post office and get tax then you would. It's the fact that there's no documentation and it's something that really should be provided with the new car. If it "was not obtained in time by Renault" then that's an argument for Renault and uk Car Discount to thrash out, not you.

Just tell the sales manager / advisor that if the COMPLETE delivery of your car and peripherals, including tax and documents, is delayed then, unfortunately, so is your payment. They'll move quick enough.

Apparently the registration certificate is not sent until you have paid so it is only the tax disc I am waiting for, and also for him to get back to me about a couple of minor problems which will be warranty work i presume. It's supposed to come in todays post recorded delivery but as there's no one at home I might not be able to get it till tomorrow. It did drive me mad this morning having a choice of 2 cars on the drive and having to get into the shitty old fiesta.

Don't worry, Admiral said as far as they're concerned i'm insured so the bloke was just talking s**t to get me to pay asap.

Fair enough, I'm sure they're ok, just a weird way of doing business!

Just think... you're only hours away from driving it now! :D

  Black/Gold 182
Hopefully, but the depot is likely to be shut when I get home so I won't be able to pick up the tax disc till tom morning, might just chance it tonight anyway, am sure i'd get off of pulled over and what are the chances anyway?

Hi I bought my 182 from WWW.uk-car-discount.co.uk as well. They were great with me had no problems at all. I shopped extensively on the internet quotes from everyone I could find offering the 182 also read lots of the postings on the Clio forum. The major factor with UK car discount was that they not only the cheapest for a uk dealer supplied vehicle but I was the 1st registered keeper on the log book. A lot of the other companies on the net could supply the 182 but they were pre registered so I would be the 2nd owner on the log book. Most did not even disclose this but after asking them they did admit this. Secondly a lot of the other internet companies said I would not get the V5 for 6 months this caused insurance implications apparently because I would not be the registered keeper for 6 months.

I saved over £3400 on the purchase and I am the 1st registered keeper, the V5 arrived a couple of days after the car was delivered in my name. The vehicle was delivered by a Renault main dealer to my home address free of charge as well. I paid for the car the following day by bank draft into the Nat West so I can only speak very highly of UK Car Discount they did exactly what they said they would do. If I was to critisize anything at all the vehicle was 4 days late but the saving £3400 outweighs any moan I may have over that. Also one of the guys I work with ordered one after he had a go in mine which he is taking delivery on monday (hopefully with a tax disc). I will let you know next week how it went.

Did the tax disc turn up like they said?

Yes, what I was least impressed with was that during the whole process they didn't phone me once, I constantly had to keep chasing them up. The sales guy was also rude to me on two occasions when I complained about the service I was getting, and seems to be under the impression that if you are making a big saving on a car you shouldn't expect good customer service.

Whats up with you guys is it negative feedback only on this forum. I don't work for UKCD I am just a satisfied customer who had a positive experience which I wanted to share with you guys(its not all doom and gloom out there guys focus on the positive things in life) I've got an extra £3400 in my bank account that I would not have had thanks to uk car Discount.

To add my colleague at work had his 182 delivered and hey it had the tax disc in the window. Also I recieved a Cheque for £50 on Weds for recommending him to them can't be bad. So all in all fantastic experience for me and my buddy at work.

So Buy your Clio 182 from www.uk-car-discount.co.uk they are the cheapest and the best

Well if you don't work for them, why do you have this problem that all your posts look like an advert.

I need help to!! Big time.
My boyfriends just bought a clio sport thingy (don't ask me havn't got a clue) and hes gone on a golf holiday and the ******* thing has arrived with no mats.

He wants mats, preferrably before he gets home.

He wants me to get them. Oh dear.

where the hell do i start?! And is there loads of different types?

Please help a damziel in distress x x

If it's a 172, as in your avatar text, then the mats look like this:

Interior1.JPG

They are light-ish grey, and specific to 172s with carpet-fixers. The best place to get them is eBay.

If he's bought a new 182, they are very dark grey and should have come with the car.

As I said we all have choices in life. You obviously choose to focus on negatives. I had a great experience with uk car discount and enjoy my 182 everyday i get in it.
