Advice Please - Engine out belt change - loosening pulleys

Hi all. I'm midway through an engine out full service. I have removed the aux belt but think I missed a trick not breaking the exhaust, dephaser and crankshaft pulleys loose before taking the engine out.

I have the genuine renault locking tools. I don't belive I should put any force locking the engine with the tools. All the videos I've seen the bolts were already loose or the step was skipped.

What's the correct way to loosen the bolts off please?

Thanks

I managed to get the dephaser snapped free using the tool without the horseshoe bar inserted at the rear. But the exhaust pulleys is pretty tight. I imagine if I can get the horseshoe pulleys into the rear that would help stop the pulley moving.

The engine is slightly out of time already but as the dephaser is now loose I should be able to get the horseshoe in easier and locked up.

I think I have the tool setup correctly but I expect it's more effective at tightening rather than bracing for loosening.

Loosening and tightening is no bother with the correct tool.
I do it without the horseshoe in though.

The crank locking pin is also man enough to tighten the crank pulley back up afterwards.

The crank locking pin is a Sealey aftermarket item. As such I don't want to risk putting too much force into it. I will have another go with it tomorow when the horseshoe is in perhaps. My belts were last changed 10 years ago!

I have found if you don't have the locking cogs well placed and then really tightened up along with removing the slack from the backing plate as you go to undo the exhaust pulley bolt the bracket moves and then the pulley gets away from the locking assembly and all moves. Try and place and then tighten up the lock tool in a position to prevent any movement when you go undo the the pulley bolts

The cam lock is adequate to hold the pulleys whilst loosening. Id go tighter on the toothed wheels than 80nm, try 100nm to avoid them moving. As engine is out you have tons of room, i would use impact gun on pulley nuts to save the engine rocking.

Impact gun on crank pulley..they fly off with a decent one.
