advice: possible ice upgrade

  E87 118i

Ive just lately started to think the speakers in my 1.6 is starting to go, as far as I know the set up is the same spec as the Mk1 172, juut with out the shuttle.

I would want to keep the headunit, as its nice and subtle and like the steering wheel control, should I just get a new set of componets for the front, or should I be thinking about amps etc. Will a quality set of comps work fine the head unit, what about the back.....sub ? thanks

You can get adapters for some head units, so you can utilise the stalk control. & the Sonys can use the dash display as well if you have that.

headunit is the best place to start as the problem youll suffer is distortion at reasonable to high volume caused by factory head unit not having sufficient power to drive speakers.

You dont say what you want to achieve by upgrading system, if its simply depth of sound then just had a sub or amplified box... doing that you can take the bass of the fronts reducing the distortion.

If this is the case id recommend the sony box xsaw200x... all in one unit and never had a bad result in any car.. shop around youll get it for about £140
