Aftermarket Headunit

  2010 Clio Dynamique
Please accept my apologies if this has been asked before, I did do a search but to no avail!

I've got a 2010 Clio Dynamique with intergrated TomTom. The head unit isn't very good and crackles the speakers when turned up loud, but is also very quiet when below 15 on volume. I have changed the speakers but this hasn't changed much. I'm thinking about changing the head unit in the car. I know this will stop the sat nav working which I'm not too bothered about as I never use it, but I don't want just a black screen staring at me. Has anyone tried this before? Any help will be appreciated.

thinking aloud here, as I can't quite remember how much space there is behind the dash in these, but could you not just change to aftermarket radio but retain the factory radio behind the dash? therefore you can get best of both - minus the audio from sat nav.

I do remember trying to change one of these in work, and at that time there were no leads available for sat nav models, seems a waste of a screen for it to be rendered useless imo. Surely could re-route factory unit onto top or underside of glovebox or something and use something like this : http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/auto...ount-cd-stereo-tray-p-14730.html#.UhFKuW3NlpM

Edit: harness/extension would mean it would be all plug and play when stereo is relocated: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/con-ct10uv09-ct10uv09-t-harness-for-iso-iso-extension.html
