Aftermarket headunits that work with the control stalk.

Car  Ph2 172, 106 Rallye
I'm looking to upgrade the HU in my 172 so I don't need a cigarette lighter bluetooth adapter to get my music in the car.

Any ideas which brand/model's work directly with the renault stalk and preferably the dash screen display?

I had a search and the last thread was from 2011, I'm sure there's more up-to-date HU's now.

Cheers.

I went a totally different way and bought an xcarlink Bluetooth module. It plugs into the cd changer port on the back of the original head unit, so maintains all the original display and works with the steering wheel stalk.

Don't think that works with my Tuner List HU. I'd quite like to add a little alpine underseat sub in the future too so I'll need an aftermarket HU for that.

I had a 172, it worked no worries with whatever the original head unit is in those. When I got rid of the 172, it went straight into the 197 I got to replace it with no problems.

Excellent. Thanks for the advice. If it comes to it, thats a decent option.

I was never into audio when I was younger, all my cars were stripped out within an inch of their life. Now I'm a good bit older, I enjoy my creature comforts and a little underseat sub sounds like it would do the job rightly without sacrificing boot space or adding too much weight.

I've not seen one of those before. That looks quite handy! I like my boot space too so that would actually be a decent alternative!

@Simon998 I also had a tuner list headunit and I replaced it with a Pioneer mechless headunit MVH-390BT which does proper Bluetooth audio streaming and handsfree.

None of the options I could find will work with the dash display, but this one retains the steering wheel controls using a Connects2 CTSRN003 adaptor.

I'm swapping cars, so I could sell you the lot for £65 delivered if you're interested?

Does it actually show anything useful on the dash display when it's on the bluetooth module though or does it just say Aux-in or something?

It just shows as cd01 track01, it always behaves like it's playing the first cd and track from the cd changer. So no. Not really that useful. For me it was all about keeping everything original in the car more than anything.

Seems pretty useless to be honest, I mean it's not showing any useful info.

Without it the display still shows the time, temperature and says Renault, so it's not like it's blank or anything.
