Aftermarket wheel and mot

Hi guys.
I'm looking at buying a 172 cup from gumtree. Looks ok apart from it's had a full rear end strip and a omp steering wheel.
How will the mot go down with this wheel as I'm guessing the airbag won't be present..

But I read somewhere that the new rules say that as ling as the airbag light isnt on then it should still pass but I don't want to buy it for it to fail in January and I'll need to buy a second hand wheel

If the light isn't on you'll be fine.

I have a aftermarket wheel with no light and it passed, straight through.

as above. As long as the light comes on and goes out on ignition it should pass fine..

If I wanted a normal steering wheel in would a normal Clio 2 wheel and airbag fit?

Mine has just failed for no airbag (even though the lights were off). The tester showed me the part of the regs and it states something along the lines of 'factory installed airbag has been removed' I had to stick my stock wheel back on to get a pass.
It may be down to the discretion of the tester though.

As above, it will fail - UNLESS you can argue the following applies:

Just leave a few pound notes on the drivers seat... or befriend an MOT Tester! The later method is future-proof too

abs does but airbag is pass and advise if it doesn't come on at all.

Ignore that, was reading wrong section. Although the wording is that if the lamp indicates a malfunction its a rejection, arguably a lam not working is an indication!

I asked my tester about this, I'm just down the road from you in Flitwick, he said how is he to know that the bag was there?

Just took mine yesterday to a random as I couldn't get to my usual and had no issue. Lights all work so he's happy with it.
