Air con go bye bye

Hi to all . Have a problem with the air con on mk 1 172 IT DONT WORK.

Have pushed all the buttons and little light comes on on the button but get no cold air is it a fault or am i being really thick

it might need regassing or it could have a leak and be low on pressure best taking it to a garage to look at m8

If the lamp comes on and theres no clunk from the engine bay then it may have lost its gas. This is what happened to mine. The drier had sprung a leak and was replaced under warranty.

Pic shows the culprit after it was dyed and was waiting for parts.

Yer doen all that it said in book but on cold air ( not that i need in in this wether) is still under warranti so not a prob just thought it may be somthing simple

i think that it is the same prob as JONATHAN as there is no clunk no nothing at all. Thanks for the info

i dont have a clunk........ but the air con still works

just takes a while to come through (well 15 secs or so)

i dont get what clunks? i mean yeah the re-circulate thing "clunks" when it closes but nothing with aircon?

Nah you have to listen to the engine bay, you CAN hear the clunk from the cabin but its not very loud.

You should also be able to hear the air-con spin down when you switch it off.. sounds like a quiet supercharger spinning down.

Mine also didnt work initially, had 2 pipes replaced that were leaking and re-gassed under warranty.

ahhhhh yes well i know wot u mean about the spinning down and off..... but no clunk......... ill listen carefully tomoz on the way into work......

its more of a click. have the bonnet up and you should hear the air con compressor click in a few seconds after you switch on the aircon. the most likely problem with yours is lack of gas due to a leak. if the aircon system sees no gas pressure it wont start the compressor.
