Air Con Stinks!!!

hi all

when i turn my air con on i get a strange smell like egg?any1 know what this could be?

i put a smoked kipper in someone's car once which stunk the whole car out...
no idea what it could be.

The smell comes from a build up of bacteria in the filter and needs a new one.

Filter's about £17 or thereabouts.

If it smells like a wet towel has farted, it could also be bacteria in the condenser. You can get a spray from Renault that sorts it, or there's one in halfords that you set off, leave it on the floor, and stand outside the car with the air con on full for ten minutes.

You can get Forte air con treatment spray...not entirely sure how it works I hear its very good.

You know when you have had a hard days work and you are all sweaty, jump in your car turn the AC on its lovely, you dry off nicely and cool down.
Well over time all that sweat gets on the ac evaporator and thats what you can smell.

Anti-bac treatment gets rid of it as well as a new pollen filter.

Its bacteria and s**t growing on the evaporator, from places like halfrauds you can get like a bug bomb thing for killing all the bacteria, you press the air recirculation button put the air con on full, set the bomb off in your car and shut all the doors, and leave it (obv with you not in it) for how ever long it says on the tin. Get a new filter too to stop the bacteria from growing back quickly as there will be some bacteria in the filter too. Or you could get a air con bloke to take your evaporator out and give it a good cleaning.

It's just because it's not been used over the winter months.
You can buy something for it, it's a can of scent that you open up in your car while you have the A/C on. leave it in there for about 5mins, after that all is well.

Yeah its like a spray can that doesn't stop once you set off, fire it off, get out the car and leave the AC running for a while but its got to be on re-circulate so it gets pumped around the system and takes care of dodgy smells.....
