how do you mean not working ? does the AC light come on ? and the fans blow .. but not cold ?

cause if so then its more than likely the system needs re-gassed, my 172 was only 10months old and it leaked all the gas, 2 pipes had to be replaced and it had to be re-gased again.

Could be that, if your fans have stopped working then check the fusebox by opening the passenger door and pulling off the cover on the side of the dash.

NOTE if the aircon needs re-gased you wont hear it click when you switch it on, or hear it spin down when you switch it off.

fuses are on the passanger side m8. Open the passanger door and they are in a little panel against the side of the dash. Aircon fuses are near the bottom.

Sounds just like my mates mk1 172 that I am driving (reads sweating in) at the moment...

Apparently it needs re-gassing and checking for leaks, so its going in on Wednesday.
