Air in cooling system causing problem

  Storm Grey 200
Right so my car is really hard to start, i've replaced the usuals but im yet to change fuel pump and MAP sensor, but the starting problem dissapears when i bleed the coolant. When i changed the head gasket and changed the coolant temp sensor it involved taking the water out and then putting it back in. Both times after this it started first time. Today i found alot of air in the system, when i took it out the car started first time and still is...

Is it possible that air in the system is causing the problem or is this just coincidence?

listening to that i'd say its almost certainly the headgasket.
air in the cooling system dosnt affect engine running at all (untill it gets hot and causes damage obviously)
does it use coolant at all?
water leaking in to the bores due to the system being pressurised for a while after it running will make it a mare to start

use new bolts? what gasket was it that you used? why did the old gasket need changing?

Didnt see that you were having trouble starting it. so i echo what ditz is saying.

well i thought the old gasket was gone due to the starting problems, drinking water, condensation in oil filler bit, but when i changed it it wasnt broke between the water and oil bits, but between the cylinder chaps.
