Airbag ecu after crash

Hello,
I've recently had a not that big crash (allegedly) on a roud course, and the passenger bag blew, also the car turned off immediately. Since i've also cracked the oil pan, took some time to fix it and now the car won't start. On my launch it throws a code for the ecu locked after crash, and when trying to unlock it, it says something along the lines of " function failed because it doesn't meet the requirements"

Is it a problem of swapping the bag ecu, and its fine afterwards? I don't plan on putting new bags in since it will be a track car only pretty soon, so is there a way to get around all this hassle?

Yep. You can send them off to a guy on Ebay for unlocking or purchase a new one with no crash data.

Just match codes

Okay good enough. So i don't need to replace airbags or anything, just the ecu?
Also, which of the codes do i have to match?
I've found some similar ecus but not exactly the same codes.

So. I have some experience here, albeit from years ago.

Bought my first 182 which had had a rear quater crash. No bags went off, but the Airbag ECU was logging an incident.

I worked for a Renault Main Dealer at the time - £400 plus vat, plus coding for a replacement. No dice.

I went to a breakers yard, which had a clio, ripped it out and shoved it in mine. It worked perfectly - £20. The scrap man didnt even know what it was :ROFLMAO:.

One crucial thing here: You must find a car that A) hasnt been in a crash (obviously) and B) has the same number of airbags as the car its going into.

From memory, and please do not quote me here, it has to be one of the higher spec ones in order to work. The lower spec Clios didnt come with as many airbags.

So if I didn't miss any, the 172 has 1 on the steering wheel, one in the dash, and two in the front seats? Makes it 4? So basically a 3 door clio with all 4 of those intact should work fine? Did you just plug it in?

I havent owned a 172, so I couldnt say for sure.

However, yes, if the car you pull it out of has the same number of bags then it will work - mine did anyway!

Literally mate, I pulled it out the breaker car, drove home, shoved it in and my airbag light was gone. It was that easy. I couldnt quite believe it :ROFLMAO:

I know it's possible but I'm in Croatia so posting it would be pretty hard, but still its a possibility.
