Same old same old... Airbag light & SERV has been on since I got the car - Diagnostics gives a fault with the drivers airbag but is unable to say where, just gives "Open circuit"?
Have removed all the plugs under both seats, matched and soldered the wires together, tried a different Driver's airbag, had the wheel off yesterday & gave everything a wiggle, pushed down on the squib etc...
Lights still on...
Which means that somewhere, some pitifully inadequate wire is broken/loose/not doing its job?
The car passed its MOT in September fine, my neighbour has his own Garage & was aware of it, but said "they all do that!" Not overly worried about the next MOT as will more than likely be taking it back there, but have Doubt In My Mind as to whether the airbag will deploy if needed, is it actually connected, etc?
My next step is to try a new squib loom and see if that works, I have searched & tried all other options, the light doesn't bother me from day-to-day, as I have a bit of black tape over both the SERV & airbag light, but could mean hassles if I get pulled by a particularly jobs-worth Plod?
No point in removing the bulb as the light has to come on - then go out again for MOT purposes, but - if you were to make & introduce a small electrical circuit with the necessary 3-second timer for the light to come on when the ignition came on - this would work just as well...
Problem not solved, but sorted.
