Hi guys,
So today for the first time I got one of the most common problems on my mk1 172, the airbag and serv light came on, not to worry I thought, just look under the passenger seat and check the wiring when I get home... anyway throughout the drive the airbag light came on and off a few times, but what also happened was my speedo started dropping down to 0, and then picking up again after, then dropping again...
I've checked under the passenger seat and wiring for the airbag fault seems to be OK, I've also checked the speedo sensor which sits below and behind the bulkhead (on the gearbox) and that seems OK, the heatshield still set around it etc. and looks fine no damage.
Do you think I have two seperate unrelated problems ? Or could these two things happening at the same time somehow be related ? It's not just a dodgy fuse by any chance ?
I've done the dashboard stalk trick, and the dials are all fine, so it's not an instrument problem.
Just to add, the airbag light coming on and the speedo dropping did not happen at the same time, in fact when the speedo first started playing up today the airbag light had gone out a few miles earlier.
