Airbag module

  106 GTi
Hi everyone,

I am wondering if any of you know anybody that can clear faults stored in an airbag module. It is locked so diagnostics won't let you get into it. Im not entirely sure if they can be cleared, if this is the case any one know where I can get one from that has no fault which will make my airbag and service light on. Basically I hit a kerb in some snow and it bought the light on. No air bags deployed or anything!

There are companies on eBay and stuff but don't trust them. I have a part number if that's any help. If any of you have one or know of anyone that has one for sale please let me know :) its a clio 2 phase 2 2006 thank you :)

Well apparently it's locked up completely so I don't know if the data can be cleared. Bucks Renault said there is like a ball bearing inside and once an impact has been detected and it knackers that bearing you have to get a new module. They're not a Renault dealer, but they are a Renault specialist. I don't fancy sending the module off incase i never get it back (it would just be my luck :( lol) I don't mind paying for a new one, but want to get one as cheap as possible. Cheapest I've got so far is £240 inc vat and that's trade price! Just trying to see what other options I have got!

Wellllll I duno! I've never seen inside one. There's some kind of ball or something in there! I thought it was literally a computer inside that stores all the data. I might take a risk and send it off!

What they mean is the computer really should be replaced as its a detonator unit and once it's "fired" it really shouldn't be trusted to do the same thing again. This is why it stores an unmovable "crash" code to kind of force your hand in binning it and the only way to reset/remove this code is by reflashing the ROM.
