Airbag service lights

Hi, fitted a sabelt wheel and Boss on my ph1 and now need to turn off the service and airbag lights. Read on here to get 10ohm resistors so just went to put the first one in and I got a shock and then a tiny bit of smoke from the connector. what have I done wrong? Anyone point me in the right direction? Do I need to disconnect the battery?

Always disconnect the negative (black) terminal of the battery when doing anything electrical. There will be a small spark when you reconnect the battery, this is normal. Bear in mind this will reset headunit settings, time, date etc so if you've spent hours perfecting your audio then note down the settings you use.

Getting a small spark isn't as alarming as it seems, after all you're connecting a circuit. As long as none of the contacts/wires on the connector appear to have melted you should be ok to stick another one in (once battery is disconnected)

Have a look for anything melted or indeed pinpoint where the smoke came from.

Nothing melted just little bit of smoke which came from the connector which I stuck the resistor in but didn't get it right in due to me getting the shock

Oh dear, sounds like the SRS ECM may have triggered the primary and secondary driver airbag lines. You will need CLIP to confirm this but if it has you'll need a replacement SRS ECM as they are use once items.
