Alarm help please

Errm hey, I'm new, and not sure if this is the right place but i was just wondering if anybody could help.

I've just bought an N Clio, mk1, and noticed it has sensors for an alarm, a little black box with an alarm sticker on it, and an LED on top of the steering wheel. So I'm guessing from them that its fitted with an alarm, but does anybody know how to make it work?? :S

Sounds like you have an aftermarket alarm there!

Nope I don't have a key and I don't think there are any buttons on this box. I'll go and check though.

I read the handbook but it was rubbish, theres a button next to the cigarette lighter where there could be a button for an alarm, but I don't have the button. So I pulled the cigarette lighter bit out and the swith is all wired up, but you can't switch the switch if you get what I mean?

yeh i had an aftermarket immobiliser on my N reg mk1 clio til today, because it wouldnt let me start the engine had mechanics to cut it out and wire everything back up in me car, only cost me £30 an all!!
my beast is back!! mind you, it only stopped running 2days ago

and before the other day i didnt even know my immobilser worked!! lol and the guy who i bought it off, didn't even know my car had an immobiliser!!

Maybe the alarms been deactivated somewhere along the line?

Maybe you got lil hamsters hibernating under the bonnet and they eaten thru the cables!

lol, well the woman I bought it off said it's always had the little LED but it's never flashed, which wasn't much help. but i just went and looked and under the glove box theres connecters on the ends of wires that aren't connected up, they're hanging down now, a black wire and a red one. I don't wanna try anything, I might break something

just wondering there isnt a key slot in the glovebox at the top thats where my immobiliser key is!
