Alarm newbie

  Civic Em1, Civic Eg4
I have a mk2 ph2 and was wondering what kinda security is on it standard?
Wanted to look into getting a aftermarket alarm for peace of mind, but dont really know much about them.
Could someone point me to the right direction on a alarm suitable for my car?

Know of any alarms that will be good to put into my car?
And like some features to look out for when buying one

I had a Autowatch Clam Cat 2 to 1 upgrade which works off the remote locking button on the key. It has the standard bonnet switch and ultrasonic sensors and is of course fitted to the interior light. I've also got a number pad for over-ride and to let me switch off the sensors so I can keep the windows open etc.

I'll try to find the alarm model for you. Big bonus is that it doesn't get set off if you open the doors to quickly like most Clio alarms!

Whats the deal with the key fob though?

Do you get a new fob with the original key fitted to it or do you just get an extra fob which you have to press aswell as the standard one?

I think this it, can't find my alarm pack at the moment to be sure but it looks just like it

I had the choice to have a new alarm fob (maybe extra cost, can't remember now) or the alarm hooked to the original key fob. I went for it connected to the key. However, I think it may actually be connected to the central locking (which obviously the key controls) because if no key is in the ignition and locking the car from the lock switch inside, the alarm is activated. If there is a key in the ignition and its turned to at least 1 click, then the lock button doesn't activate the alarm.

i had a clifford concept 650 on my old car which was pretty good. had dual zone proximity sensors which 'chirp' if people got too close to the car

I've just bought a Avantguard 5.5 (Cliffords flagship alarm) off MT AUDIO on here for a very reasonable price and in the process of getting it fitted.

The alarm comes with;

- Blackjax (Anti Hi-jack system)
- Tilt Sensors
- Proximity Sensors
- Break Glass Sensors

As well as all the other features of the alarm.

Becareful with your clio alarm, I thought mine had one but mine turned out to be a import which didn't come with locking wheel nuts nor an alarm. Easiest way to tell is if there is a red light next to your gearstick :)

I can't praise MT AUDIO enough on the service he gave me - drop him a PM and see what he can do for you.
