Alarms

Any views on any alarms appreciated as I want to get something sorted out.

I know a very good fitter, and he specialises in Cobra systems. Has anyone got any views on the current cobra alarm systems??

Thanks

Martin

Cobra are fitted to 172 mk2s as standard they are ok. In my opinion clifford are the best ive had 2 on previous cars. you may be lokking at 500+ nowadays though for the entry level model.Toad are a good make too

I have a Clifford Concept 300 on my 1.2.. very very good.

Get a good install.. and youll be happy!

clifford concept 300 thatcham cat 1 approved can be had for 300 inc fitting.

great alarm, just needs wd40 spraying on the bonnet sensor every now and again!

get remote start fitted fitted too for an extra 200!!! depends how flush you are!!

Hehe, the standard one can hold a bit of water yea!

Next time, Im gunna use a 16v Bonnet Switch.. from the 16v standard alarm - they have a rubber cover so it dont happen!

I got my a concept 300 done today at MotorGuard in Birmingham, seems ok so far, bloody loud though, which i guess is the point.

Yeah, id like to go for the clifford, and I like the sound of some of the features available, but I want to get it fitted very well if thats what im going to get done, and so the problem arises finding a decent fitter around south east london n\w kent, hmmm....
Recommendations anyone?

what is used on the new UK spec 182s then? as I understand it beeps if you try locking the car if any boot/bonnet, door is left open, like my sigma cat 1 alarm did on my dynamique. But its a different beep so its not a sigma alarm is it.

I thought they would all have the same spec, but maybe not.

I had a Sigma cat 1 on my RS Turbo & it sounded totally different to the Sigma on my 172. The one on the 172 is a lot louder too. 1 beep to open, 2 beeps to close.

yeah but cat 1 alarms on renaults dont beep at all just when arming/disarming do they, its just when doors left open and try to arm the system.

Unless there is a way to make them beep on arm/disarm?

I know with my last sigma it had all sorts of options. I had to take it to a fitter to get some of the stuff turned off. Like when I got out to go in the petrol station & it would automatically lock all the doors & turn the alarm on about a minute after Id taken the keys out. & my m8 would be still sat in it. LOL.

Anyway what am I ranting on about :D
Maybe someone with a 182 can step in & tell us what alarm u got as std.

Thats a CAT1 feature.. they arnt meant to..

I know on my Clifford its settable - you can choose either as default (beep or silent) or, by pressing two buttons on the remote.. you can get it to be silent.

I know tho, for CAT1 status.. they need to be able to be alarmed silently. (I think... Heh)

get a toad alarm, similar features to a clifford, but cheaper. Got one fitted to my import 172, well impressed.
