Do you have to use the alcon clutch cover in conjunction with the alcon clutch plate? or can a standard cover be used?

no point running the clutch without the uprated presure plate,

You dont need one, keep the cash lol.

no point running the clutch without the uprated presure plate,

Of course there is if its designed to/capable of work/ing with the clamping loads and material of the standard pressure plate! We run ClutchNet and AP paddles with standard Renault pressure plates for 24 hour race use!

Cheers

Well every other sod said theres no point doing that on my thread lol.

The guy at helix said that there would be no point in my using there orangic plate without the rest of the gubbins (presure plate etc)

He wasnt selling them direct btw!

i presume the easiest way to find that out is to ring the supplier?

i thought it might be ok to use with standard cover as the DT catalogue doesnt list one, although i know they do one for the F4R after doing a bit of searching....... $611 mind lol

X85 spec dictates the use of an OEM pressure plate with a ClutchNet paddle!

It depends on what clamping load the friction plate requires to transfer the required torque amount and if the dimensions are close/the same as that of a standard friction plate.

alcon were ran on the 172 cup racers, but they had problems with them exploding IIRC, they were then changed to Helix, but then i think they were changed again to quarter master

spoken to John Harris at tweeks about the clutch as i was ordering some other stuff anyway

as previously stated you can use the oem cover however they do an uprated one aswell, he kindly got me a price and i was pleasantly surprised

£200+vat for the plate and £156.73+vat for the cover

not bad i thought
