Is this place going to be renamed zoesport then?

Clio looks okay I suppose but then I never really liked the Mk4!

I wouldn't worry too much about the 1.3. M-Sport are getting 200bhp from the 1.0-litre EcoBoost now. I would think the 1.3 Renault engine could be quite fruity in competition form.

They offer a 1.3 160 TCE in the Scenic and Kadjar already, which thinking about it now why it didn't make its way into the Clio RS Line.... There's rumours of 180hp, amongst loads of other rumours of will there won't there be another outright RS model... We will see.

RS line. f**king hell. RS is now just a trim level. What a shower of shite Renault have become.
It's similar to what Ford have done with the ST Line and other car manufacturers have also done.

Atleast the other manufacturers have a ‘line’ but also the actual car to buy. S Line (S3/4 etc) Renault dropped a bollock with the Mk4 RS and most new they wouldn’t recover from that - and that has now been proved right. Most people have gone to another marque for performance motoring, as they’ve had to. I’ve have 5 or 6 182s and is never consider a new one these days.

This is 100% correct from my point of view

The main reason we won't have a quick Clio is due to CO2 taxes on new vehicles in France - this article/graphic on the ICCT website is a couple of years old now, and the charges have increased / are going to increase even further, but you can see how a vehicle with even just 180g CO2/km is already hit with a massive tax on it:

We'll ignore the fact that CO2 is food for plants, and that the main driver of any changes in the climate is the sun instead of human activity...

Fair comment, I have owned a 220 Trophy for the last 11 months and absolutely love it. I also have a 172 and know hands down which one I would choose all day long. Both two different cars to drive but both equally fun. I also believe too many people jumped on the bandwagon with the MK 4 without even driving it.

couldn't have put it better myself, if I had the choice of my 220 trophy vs my 200 cup, 182 trophy, ph1 172 etc etc id take the 220 trophy every day doesn't matter if it was a B road blast, track day, commute to work, motorway cruise, doesn't mean the previous cars were bad, they were fanstastic but the game moved on with the 220!

I'd happily admit the gearbox in the 200 wasn't the greatest but a massive step forward. The Mk4 was a big step in tech coupled with a great chassis, the gearbox takes weeks getting used to not a quick 10 minute blast up and down the road with a salesman on a test drive. They revised the software on the 220 which made the gearbox night and day better, a much more pleasant experience when pushing on, thankfully the software was available for all the 200 EDC owners and being on their Mk4 Facebook group the people who've had it done at Renault have commended it for the big change in how it changes gear much quicker, gear change prediction, smoother changes.

I think the big problem was, no matter how good the car was, the fact it was only available as an auto was always going to upset the purists, especially in the UK. When all the previous models were seen as the purist, racy driving experience, an auto was always going to be controversial.

I actually considered a 200EDC for a rally car if you could get a cheap one and upgrade the gearbox software, but they are more expensive than some of the other options. A shame, I thought it would be a fun little car, especially if you could get a shorter final drive in the box.

After reading that back about the gearbox what I meant was it was great to use, made better by having the 220 software installed on my old 200 EDC. The 220 paddles are better too, less throw on the click when gear changing.

Had an email today from the sales manager at my local Renault dealer, after speaking to him at the unveil and a couple more times since.... He's asked if I'm interested in taking an RS Line out for 48hrs to give them some feedback on how it is, would be rude not to😁😊

Are you test driving the 130 EDC?

Be interesting to read your review. The edc box in these are so smooth and in manual mode changes so effortlessly and better than the 220 Trophy box.

I am indeed, should be in a couple of weeks time for the whole weekend. I'll do a review with photos afterwards and post it up. I've had both the 200 EDC and 220 Trophy so I'm keen to feel the difference.

I have had many hot hatches over the many years i have been driving a lot faster than the new clio rs line i have now and i must say its got all the power i need an d more in today's keep your licence.
Also i have to say the build quality is very good and better that a seat leon i had new a few years ago i like the small paddles on the steering wheel and in sport mode it stiffens up also the boot is bigger than before got mine in iron blue and it gets a lot of admiring looks but to be honest i like to keep low key the seats are very supportive and i have the self drive parking with larger dash monitor im very happy.

No, there are different settings for the steering through the Multi sense.

To add to my earlier post, someone on PH posted a link to some great analysis of the impact of tax changes based on CO2 output and enforced by the EU:

We’ve run one for 3 months now. 1 litre RS Line as my Mrs didn’t want an auto.

it’s a nice enough little thing. Interior quality and design are top notch. Lots of decent materials and brushed metallic plastic bits.. Handles OK, certainly on par with the 2015 Fiesta Zetec S I ran a while back - slightly softer which is no bad thing as the Ford was harsh. Averages low 50s mpg. Lots of standard kit (or at least doesn’t leave you wanting extra).

Colour is great and it scrubs up nicely.

But it is bloody big compared to a Mk2😳but still too small for family use - I drama as my Skoda covers that role.

Overall we love it.

Such a nice colour that, I popped into my local Renault dealer last week and they actually offered me the same RS Line demo car I test drove before Christmas. The Mégane 280 hardly gets used and going RS Line would free up some money on the monthly payments. They've given me numbers and left it up to me.

Those front seats look nicer than the ones in my 220. Just need some RS stitching in them

Yeah, it's fair to say inside the RS line branding is quite subtle with just the little diamond tags on the seats, steering wheel badge, and logo on the mats. I think that's probably a good thing though.

They are the upgraded full leather heated seats, seem comfy so far and do heat up quicker and better than the ones in our old Kadjar.
