All the icons have disappeared from my screen!

Help! A programme I was using just now stopped working and the egg-timer thingy stayed on for ages and eventually I shut it off and went to put it back on again and all the icons have disappeared from the screen!!!

Should I just switch the PC off using the main button and will they come back? Obviousy the Internet is OK but I've got nothing else... what has happened?

After shrinking this page to check the icons are still 'missing' even AOL disappears and the only way I can get it back is by clicking Alt/ctrl/delete and then clicking AOL to make it come back!

You need to do an icon dance. Its basically a computer version of the rain dance.

Not yet as I thought I would ask advice first!

They have gone to live in Neverland with PeterPan.

Just restart your computer and they will all come back.

Is it your own PC or is it your work one?

If it belongs to work then do whatever the f*ck you want to it, switch it off at the plug, spill coffee on it - mine seems to be indestructable.

Or as stated above, an icon dance may work

Panic over.... I switched the PC off and on again and it's OK now!

Where did the icons go? (My own PC by the way Dillers 172 Cup)!

I usually find the old switching it off and on again trick works 9 times out of 10!
