Hi welcome to cliosport. I'm not a fan of big wheels so personally would stay clear of 17's. Im on 15" 172 alloys with -60mm drop apex kit, which is fine for me. If you want a good look go for 16's at drop -60mm although theres not much difference between a 15" and 16" because you normally have a lower profile tyre. It's all down to personal choice though, there are plenty of pics of peoples cars lowered on 15's 16's and 17's so get searching.

But the insurance is high if i drop it 60mm, how much will it cost, can anyone recommend shocks. i just need and want a good set up as i want it to look slick

I have a 1.2 16v 02 reg clio and it is on 16" tsw catalunya alloys. Wheels dont come much sleeker and I got GMAX springs which lowered the car by 35mm. Looks sweet as. 60mm can be too much for your ride and handling etc, and 35mm is good for insurance. :approve:

My girlf had 18's with a 35mm drop on her 1.2 16v, but the ride was harsh. A mate of mine has some 17" oz's with 35mm springs, and it looks smart and the ride is ok, obviuosly bumpier than standard but nothing bad

17's on a 1.2 is the best option...it's not a fast car so style wins imo...I had O.Z superlegg's on -60mm and then latterly coils at -75mm, looked the nuts!!!

Its not ideal to just change the springs, but with a 35mm drop the shocks should still last a good few years... indeed i've had several cars lowered on springs only and have never ruined any shocks. Can't comment on springs only though on 60mm

35mm is pants, get ghetto 60mm Pi's there fine. I had them, crashy as hell but a nice height. R3OBC had them on his old car and they were so bedded in...Mite be on Dutty's now??

Maximum you'll want is about 17's 162 are a good compromise I still prefere 15's though for a soft ride.

Lowering springs will wear out though with different springs given time.
Personally I'd gte the car lowered first Apex matching lowering dampers and springs etc are a good buy at something like £200. They lower the car 30 or 40 or 60mm depending on the kit I think.
If you have some more money i'd definatly recomend coilovers and although they cna go lower thean 60mm you can set them to whatever height you want personalyl thats what i'd do FK coilover set to 58mm or whatever then when insurance allows lower it the full amount (if it is that much more).
Eisback are probaly the best spring upgrade though for a none tracked car.

decent l8ght weight 16's should be fine from performance point of fiew, lowered on eibach pro's would be very nice.
