Almost as good as they say it is

  Ziel Nurburgring

Picked up my shiny new 172 on saturday and took it for a nice long drive. Firstly, trying to keep below 4k revs is an absolute ar5e, i find myself looking at the counter and with realising am doing 60 in 40 zone!!! Below 4k, performance is pretty good, and am so looking to maybe giving it a bit of stick to find out what its like above 5k.

Build quality is pretty good, a few little rattles but otherwise ok. But whats with the windscreen wipers and cabin being round the wrong way!

Good work renault on a great car, im loving it!

I loved it................for just under a week, ythen things start to go wrong and you wonder whether yer 15K could have been better spent elsewhere

ive had nowt wrong with mine yet 2.5k so early days but most bad probs have happend before 5k.. half way there. Also it was pretty nippy when i first got it.. but wow! the engne, is not just a little bit better but almost porsche like sound at times @2.5k its all but run in. its much faster n smoother.

A quick tip (although some may say im contradicting myself)

turn off ESP in dry, i found its more progressive without it & if done properly is quite a lot quicker than with it on. Also going over train lines..etc dont jar as much (maybe traction gets a bit confused).

When i floor it in the wet the Traction hammers my brakes, its like a loud juddering noise (about 4-5 times) it slows me down i dont floor it round corners so why do i need it? with it off i get predictable and controlable wheel spin, its actually less dawnting.. i also get much more feed back from the steering wheel in normal driving.

also like to add.. you cant really hear what everone else hears as you pass. its a proper meaty roar and you can achieve that by normal driving.

great sound no its opened up.. actually given me more faith in the engineering because of this.

phill*
