Alpine H/U not working.

Ok i just got this headunit from a mate.
Now ive done the reset switch and ive checked to see if every thing is ok with the car which it is ok.
Now ive taken this picture so you boffin's can see what its all like at the back and connections.
Yes i know the big black plug and the big white plug need to be connected properly but i did it like that for picture purpose.

SO what am i doing wrong?

Any Advice is welcome.
Plus what are all those other bloody plugs / leeds again.

Yea its working now, what a flaming idiot i am.

Still whats the other wires for then? and has anyone got this unit Alpine CDE-9848 HU with steering wheel controls working aswell ¿?
