Alpine H/U turns on intermittently when car is locked up? HELP!

OK I have a 9812rb head unit and everything works fine.
Sometimes I can get to my car and before I even unlock I can see the head unit is turned on even though the ignition int even turned on.
Any ideas?
Oh yeah, its running with a direct feed from the battery.

Please help, its driving me mad.

I have exactly the same head unit and mine has done this three or four times now. No idea what causes it though. I have taken to pressing the release button on the fascia and leaving it hanging out overnight when it's in the garage just to avoid getting a flat battery. Interestingly though i do not have mine running from a direct feed to the battery.

Are you sure it was deffo turned off when you left it? I had similar prob where the ignition swith cable and live cable (think red and yellow ones) just needed either swapping or joining together as they link up witht the head unit, not sure which combination it is now but might be worth trying different combinations of the power wires.

One way you loose the memorised settings each time turned off, another way the headunit does not turn off with the ignition and the final one works fine.

If it is wired up the second way could be the problem?

does it just show disc on the display but none of the buttons work

mine does it if i leave the face on it

jimiariss: may give that a try.
dink: yeah its lit up and says disk i think but none of the buttons work as you say, has to wait till the ignition is turned on then it works.
brun: its only when its on my drive and stuff.....
