Alpine iDA x200 problem.

  ITB BG 182
Ok i have the x200 H/U and its not charging my ipod as i use it. Its only a nano an i have been told by alpine it is meant to charge the nanos.
Is this true or do i have to charge the damm thing every time.

Also can some one send me a picture of the wiring so i can check that mines done properly, it plays but thats all.

depends what model the nano is. the alpine ida x*00 arent compatible with the new ipod range. they still play but they will sometimes skip, stop working, not display some information and sometimes dont charge the ipod up. i have a new ipod touch but mine charges. wiring is simple tbh, its just the usb plugs into the rear of the headunit.

i got the kca 422i adapter thing.
Ive read on the alpine page that it is meant ot do all nanos.
Pointless in having a unit that dont charge the ipod as you go because then you have to take it out almost every night.

if you put the cd manual in the computer and take a look at the ipod section of it, it says that its only compatible with 1st and 2nd generation nanos. maybe you should ring alpine up and query them on this?

But if you look on the Alpine website it says it is compatible with all Nano's

but that would have come out before the new range of nanos and ipods came out. they might have then changed the headunits they sell now to be compatable, im not sure but i got mine a few months before the new range of ipods came out which means that something new in the new ipods might not work with the headunit.

ye but i bet they made that i pod lead BEFORE the new generation i pods came out so it won't charge it as theres something different in the ipod just like it the OLD bose sound dock wont charge the new ipod or i phone.... its a bit tough or buy a older ipod !!! mine charges my ipod as its a generation 1 classic

just do what im going to do. buy the cheapest 3rd 4th or 5th generation ipod (one that you know is compatable i.e not the new range) with like 30 gb and then keep it in the car. means yo dont need to keep taking it in and out when you want to use it

OK i had a nice long conversation with a chap from Alpine this morning about the HU's to iPods.
He did tell me if i get another usb to iPod interface lead like you have for the computers and plug it in to the usb on the back of the HU it will work through the HU as normal but will also charge the iPod.
Ive just tried it, and it now charges my brand new iPod and i can still control it through the head unit as i could with the KCE422i cable.
