Has anyone ever returned any Alpine product for repair? Im having problems with the internal amp in a 7894RB head unit and I will most likely have to return it to them for repair. What have they charged and would I be better off buying a new head unit?
I had mine done under warranty. You ring them and theyll tell you to take it to one of their speciualists. Halfords is one i believe. That company then has a tinker with it and sees if its an easy fix. In my case it was an easy fix and i no they billed alpine £25 for the service. The problem has happened now 3 times twice in warranty and once out and alpine agreed to pay for them all
So Halfords will take a look at it then? Are there any other places that repair car audio? I would have a go myself but the unit still works okay under the preamps so I still have half a cd player!
I think ive found what caused the problem with the internal amp. The speaker outs from the internal amp were grounded to the output from my external amp. I would have thought there would be some sort of protection for this though.
Im a specialist at the cardiff branch and I can say for certain that halfords cant bill alpine to repair their products on-site as none of the guys are trained or even authorised to do this! As a company we return all our stereos to Advaned eletronics and logistics who carry out the repair.
However we have occasionally been asked by customers to return the product to the manaufacturer which we can also do as they believe the manufacturer will do a better job.
Alpine have a offer on at themoment were they will repair any fault on their units and give the unit a complete service for £50 + VAT. Contact alpine direct for this service.
