Alternative car security

  Renault Clio S
I was having a chat with a friend a while back concerning car alarms, immobilisers – security stuff in general – and his advice was that if you’re totally paranoid about vehicle theft then they are ways to ensure your car goes nowhere, even if thieves manage to disable the alarm and immobiliser.

Removing the speak plugs for instance, or placing tin foil under the plug caps if you really can’t be arsed to remove them), removing the maxi-fuse for the fuel pump. Possibly not ideal solutions for every day use but if you only use a car at the weekends then I guess it’s worth it. I can’t imagine your average car thief carries a set of spark plus around with him.

Any other DIY security methods of note, other than the blatantly obvious one’s of taking the wheels off.

None of that is going to stop some hardcore thief with a flat bed.

If your car is that desirable they will come with one of these and lift the fuc*er

if theives wanted to steal my car they would need a low loader fo' sho'

main reason at the min is that even i cant get it started lmao, but eventually it will have:

quick release steering wheel (removed whenever possible)
a set sequence of toggle switches to activate the fuel pump
an fia ignition cut off switch (the key will be removed whenever possible)
quick release battery terminals (removed whenever the car is sat for more than a day or so, although it doesn't take a genius to work this out!)

I guess so. What with all the reposessions going on at the moment, anyone standing around with a clipboard and looking official whilst your car is loaded on to a flatbed wouldn't be viewed with suspicion. Hell, most people would standaround and watch.

There's a very easy way to disable clio IIs from inside the car, but I wont say incase any bandits are reading this.

At the end of the day, if they want it they will get it.

I've had mates who have had cars dragged down the road to be stolen. I know of a dude who years ago used to chain his escort RS turbo to a drain with as big massive chain, it got nicked.
Security poles are good, till your house gets broken into & they steal the key for it.

Removing Spark plugs on a 172/182 would take an age to do! Half the engine needs to come apart :p lol!

The harder you make a car to steal, the more risk you're at. I've seen things about car security before on TV where thieves would either break into the house, or they'd simply wait and car jack the person.

Personally I think if I had the choice, I'd rather my car was taken without me being hurt for it.
