alternatives to air

  Fiat Coupe 20v turbo

aye there is some other sh*te cost me quid a tyre last time I had new tyres...cant remember what its callled though.

Nitrogen is one option.

Air is the best all round though funny gasses could be used but they have other properties they arnt helpful.

whats the point to it?

anything carrying a mass of semi solid nature would create the most horrendous imbalance.

surely we cant be missing out on the most basic of common sense nowadays?

is there a alternative tyre filling (thats not air or nitrogen, or any gas)?
is there a point to this question? ;)

Air is good:

low cost
doesnt pollute
freely available at petrol stations (well almost free)
light weight
politically correct (who could object to air?)
safe (suicide bombers never target air)
why do you ask?

filled with foam would give you a horrible ride as mentioned, itd be more rolling weight, make steering heavier and handling crap.

you can buy tyre foam, its for when you have a punture and no spare, it can only be used a temp fix and would ruin the tyre.

It doesnt fill the tyre fully with foam, it just forms an air tight seal over the puncture!

u can buy tyre seal i think its called its a gel u put in all your tyres.... then fill with air... when u get a puncture the gell fills the hole.... but i cant see it being great if it stays as a liquid over night it will gather at the bottom and as u drive off the next day it would take a few seconds to evenly distribute over the tyre
