Could running without the little single wire control/battery light connector damage an alternator?

Could being covered in power steering fluid damage an alternator?
In a non road legal track car with no AC, radio etc and only using lights in a wet race for 15-20 minutes duration could I use a 75amp alternator rather than 110amp. Clio 182
