Am i being picky.?

  Shhh
the car went in for repair to just car clinic in grimsby to have the bonnet repaired, it had a dent in it, and it was out of alignment.

They were to remove the dent, then go with painting it, sort the bonnet alignment out, and put genuine renault stripes back on the bonnet.

When i went to collect the car, the stripes are out, and I was informed that they stripes were just made, and are not from renault. The guy even put the price of the stripes on the invoice and they were billed to the company that caused the damage.

Thes question is... would you accept some stripes that were just made, when quoted for renault parts, and what do you think about the fitment. They have pictures of the stripes before the work was carried out.. so why should it be different.?

Not at all. I'd want it exactly as it was before hand. I'd also want Renault stripes. I'd kick up a fuss matey.

  Shhh
Well, i stated renault stripes, they were billed for renault stripes, i received aftermarket stripes, and they are not fitted right, even though they took pictures themselves.

They said the problem is with the compnay that fitted them, i said its your problem as you told them to fit them.

But on the other hand, how do i know they will fit genuine stripes.?

kick up a big fuss. if it were me, they would still have the car as i would not have taken the keys. the car is your pride and joy. don't let em f**k you around

You won't I suppose. But they should remove those one's and fit some new ones correctly at least! Can you not ask to see an invoice from Renault for the stripes?

those stripes are way off line mate. How could they out them on so wrong. Just compare before and after shots and the positioning of the stripes next to the washer jet. they must be a good inch out.

Show the place who did it the before and after pics and say you want them refitting properly with renaukt stripes.

Or you could find out from renault dealership how much it would be for them to do it for you and charge the bill to the place that fu**ed up

I don't blame you for being picky, I would be too. Why shouldn't you want it perfect?

I wouldnt be that bothered that they hadn't used renault genuine stripes im sure the aftermarket ones are good quality. However i would be extremely annoyed about how they have been applied. I mean wtf is that, they are way out it and looks shite! Name and shame.

They are quite close to the washer jets normally, the N/S stripe.

From the photos they seem to get furthur apart at the bottom like | \

*edit* Wierd, this pic shows the drivers side stripe nearest the washer?!?

then this one the other way around...

Got a pic before it went in? I'd be annoyed if they aren't genuine renault stripes too - might start to peel/fade or anything.

Might be more noticeable in real life but I can't tell any difference between the before and after shots.

Hey thats my missus car!!! lol But yeah from that pic the stripes do seem to be in a different position than on the first car.

Aren't they applied by the dealers they are sold from so effectively they could vary in how they are applied.

Here's a pic of my missus car again, so gives you some idea of how they were positioned on hers.

Either way though mate, I'd take it back and tell them you want them re-applied in the same position as before.

With regard to who supplies the stripes, chances are the Renault dealers used a 3rd party to provide them anyway. So it might not make a difference.

if its not how it should be, take it back. Is it an insurance job? If so dont lay down and roll over mate, I got my car taken and re-done at a different garage I was so unimpressed with work done to it originally. You pay you're premium so in the event of an incident you get it restored to the condition it was in prior to the incident.

its just a bit of vynil, i wouldn't be bothered if it came in a renault package or not, but as long as they line up properly

If its insurance then speak to your insurers and get them to sort it.

When my mum's SportKa got damaged and repaired by some bit repair centre it came back with the bumper not lined up correctly. She spoke to em and they sent someone out who fixed it outside the house.

If you're not happy, have a word. :D

  Shhh
Problem is though, the garage have offered to have it replaced, even though i stated that i had asked for renault stripes, they said its just vynil, and that would get the company out. I explained again and they said to bring the car in, i explained i live 39 mile away, they said they could collect and leave me a car.

Problems are.

1. How do i know they have used genuine stripes?
2. I dont want to drive the crappy micras they supply...
3. They wont give me car insurance, as i should be covered on mine they say.

Have to agree...I doubt wether special Renault vinyl is any different to the average stuff but I would ask them to re do it do they line up preperly.
