Am I doing it wrong?

  "Navy" N17 TWO
Can anyone advise me how to get a deeper shine on my paintwork?

Products used;

2 bucket method
~ Megs NXT carwash & Megs Ultimate mitt (new lambswool comming)

~ Sonus Claybar, warm soapy water and Sonus Glyde for clay
~ Rinsed off with cold water then dried with Megs Water Magnet

~ PC with Orange DAS pad & Megs #83 - speed 4
~ PC with green DAS pad & megs #80 - speed 4

~ Megs #21 by hand with microfibre applicator

~ Megs Vinyl/rubber care on the plastics

Havent had the chance to apply the wax on top yet,
have Megs #16 ready to go but I still think I'm going wrong somewere with the PC :S

Bump the speed up on both the products Megs Products by PC to 5 or 6 to burnish the paint to a higher shine. For me anything less than 5 or 6 when polishing does sod all by PC. 2 or 3 passes at 3/4 to evenly spread the product up to 5 or 6 for 3 passes or so.

Ditch the #21 for a glaze and carnuaba wax combo or a glaze, sealant and wax .

I get my best results with Clearkote Vanilla Moose Hand Glaze, Poorboys EX-p or Wolfgang Sealant, topped with Pinnacle Souveran Wax and/or Poorboys Nattys Blue Wax.

OK thanks lads

I wasnt sure what speeds were "safe" on the PC

Should I buff each off straight away or leave them to dry?
Usually I buff off straight away with a Megs Supreme Shine

Polishes like 83 and 80 wipe of after doing a panel. Glazes the same.

Most sealants need to cure first, then be wiped off. Waxes it depends on what your using.

Ok Rich, am I using the right pads/cloths for PC'ing, or are there better ones?

Which wax would you reccomend for a deep shine & mirror finish - and how to apply?

Pads and cloths are fine, you could look into the Sonus SFX pads as they get things done a little quicker due to being slightly more dense and abbrassive foam.

This is what I did on my own car

and have since topped it with Carnuba Wax.

There are some not needed steps in there, A cut down version would be:

Swirl Removal - Poorboys SSR 2.5, Light Cut Pad by PC.
Polish - Meguiars Speed Glaze 80, Polishing Pad by PC
Glaze - Cleakote Vanilla Moose Hand Glaze - Polishing Pad by PC
Sealant - Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant or the #21 you have.
Top with Souveram or Nattys Blue Carnuba Wax.

Cheers - weather has turned again now  so I'll get a few things in the meantime

Am I right in thinking the paint looks dull/hazey at the min because I have had the PC too slow and also the car is't waxed ? :S

Hazing will have been caused by the 83 not being broken down, You need to work it on faster speeds, with slow passes to make sure it breaks down fully. 2 or 3 passes on speed 3/4 nad the same on 6. I dont like the stuff to be honest. SSR 2.5 works better and is more user freindly.

Weather the ca has been waxed makes no difference, the polished paint should look just as good before wax.

Polish with metal polish, then AG super resin and extra gloss, they should come clean easier then.

dude, ya not supposed to use an extension lead before the transformer. supposed to use one after it.

Nice work, looking good.

Agree with Guy though, the power supply ain't the best way to do things.
