Amp question

Just wondering what the difference between 2, 4 and mono channel amps is?

2 seem to be cheapest, then 4 then 1 :S

the number of channels relates to how many speakers you can run off it and have seperate signals coming from each

Whats a mono amp then just one? looking about they seem more expensive?

The reason Monoblock / 1-channel amps are the most expensive is that they are designed to power subwoofers which are either require serious power, or require top quality sound input to run...

2-channel are the cheapest as they arethe easiest/most produced, and run just about everything from a set of 6x9s, or even run a small sub if they are "crossed", which means using both channels for 1 speaker/sub...

4-channel are that bit more expensive as they do twice as much as a 2-channel, with most giving the option to run just the 2 speakers, or again, cross the 4 and run 1 speaker/sub..

No a friend is and he asked me and so thought put it to you lot cuz i had no idea

remember that most mono/sub/class-d amlifiers work best when you show them a low impedance (ohms)

so sometimes if you got a 4 ohm sub you might get a better output from a bridged 2 channel amp
