Amplifier power cable routing

  182, SQ7, Trafic
Drill a 20/25mm hole next to where the water pipes go into the car then put a grommet on it

  Renault Clio 1.6 16V 110
if you dont fancy drilling holes, you can take out the bonnet catch cable out and open up the grommet then put it back in. this is what i done in my install. could fit 2 "0" gauge cables through it ones it was fully opened up

Your search link returned no matches :/

Ok I'll have a look for the bonnet catch cable at the weekend

I wouldn't drill another hole - the grommet where the bonnet release is a big rubber gromet with a small hole in it for the cable.
Just push a screw driver through it to make a new hole and the cable fits through fine

Ok that does sound like the best option so I'll try that, is it like the oval shaped grommet in the passenger footwell? I found that, but can't work out where to find the other end in the engine bay :/

yes thats the one mate, depending on the size of cable its easy enough just to use a scre driver to push a hole through then use some fairy liquid on the cable to help pushing it through. if you take the water reservoir out, it makes it much easier to locate and work on.

It's up behind the glovebox - I think you just pull the top part of the carpet back

In the engine bay - unhook the power steering bottle and lean it forwards - then you have to get your hand behind the sound deadening and head right towards the wheel arch - you'll feel where the bonnet release cable goes through :D

I pushed a coat hanger through from inside the car - then taped the cable to the end of it and pulled it back through

Hope this helps

Any recommendations for an earthing point? I used the big torx bolt that as in the boot at tr bottom of the rear seats, will that be good enough?

Anything that you can screw a bolt into the chassis will work, as long as you make sure to sand the area and threads down to the bare metal. If you take the plastic off around the boot catch, either side near the lights is a screw hole, I just sanded that small area, found a bolt and washer to fit, wrapped the earth cable and tightened it right down then refitted the plastic strip, routing the cable around it and to the amp. Hope that helps.

All sorted!

Thanks for the help and info guys

Managed to route the power cable through a hole that was made for a separate alarm system,

Anyone know anything about a signum alarm system, my car seems to have one fitted, and it has a keypad inside (which i assume is a pin coded immobiliser) but never needed to use it lol, not a clue
