Another Llandow track car

With llandow track day in a few weeks myself and buddy Ash' decided we'd go for our first track day!

between my clio dieing a death and ash selling his for an Alfa.. We decided to hunt for a car we could abuse between us

after looking at a seriously ropey mx5.. Getting outbid £5 on a 1.0 micra.. And generally getting bored of trawling through sales pages.. I asked another forum for cheap track shed ideas.. When some one suggested.. It just clicked how perfect it would be.. So enough waffle.. Here we have it!

£280 rust bucket (car it's self)
£200 welding and prep work
£1200 buckets (from my clio)
£200 harness' (as above)
£250 16" TD pro race 1.2s with T1Rs (left over from my first car.. Saxo)
£180 mondeo calipers and 300mm focus st discs.. Mmm
And an £18 window sticker

2000/X puma 1.7 in red/pink/rust guise! 115k miles and mechanically sound!

and there we have it so far.. She's far from pretty but she's nippy and so fun to rev about in!

Got a few bits left to do, bit of tarting up here and there and a couple bushes need replacing.. Rear arches need some serious attention but we have a couple weeks to get her sorted!

its just a relatively cheap project that's most importantly fun

its not everyone's cup of tea but I know there's a few ford fans on here so I'm sure it can be appreciated by some gally

If the day goes well and she makes it back in one piece (lol) I might keep her on as a full time track car.. Engine swap, disc rear beam.. Widearch FRP / s1600 kit the works.. But for now she's a low budget project!

Haha that's cool. I took a proper ropey 1.4 one out the down the lanes the other saturday 180k miles and it put a proper smile on my face. The original gearbox was still amazing!

The engine pulls in every gear and the gear box is sublime.. Feels so mechanical! Love it

looking for a 2nd hand spring set or cheap coilovers but can't find anything <£280 :/

it looks tidy but it really isn't! Lol she will be fun tho

the seats are bolted to custom welded low frames (basically on the floor!) the position is amazing!

no problem! I don't know what the rules on sharing is but I'm happy to take passengers
It's surprisingly quiet.. Stock exhaust and what not.. Road noise ain't too bad! More sound proofing to come out yet tho

good choice for a cheapie, always see one or two pumas on most track days and as a general rule they tend to be pressing on quite nicely

Should be a good laugh as intended! It was an interesting drive taking it home.

To be fair sitting in the drivers seat it certainly didn't drive like what you would expect a £280 car to drive like. It's spot on!
