Another my car’s been keyed thread...

  CTR

Not sure that its just down to jealousy. There are so many threads about car cleaning on the forum that its clear that a lot of 172 / 182 owners are proud of their cars and take a lot of time looking after them.

I think that the chav mentality is more about p*ssing someone else off than about making themselves feel better - any car owner will be p*ssed off if their car is keyed, but someone who clearly spends a lot of time on their car will be more so. Its the reason the scum kick in phone boxes etc - it inconveniences or annoys others, and makes the chav feel that little bit better about his sad, pathetic life.

Omar - what are you doing now youve found out who it was? And I dont mean in terms of revenge - are you getting police involved, or trying to get money from them for a respray? Or have you just had to concede that they are scum, they will always be scum, and theres nothing that can be done about it?

People at my work admit to doing over phone boxes and the odd car walking back from town and they are people who are earning fairly good money not chavs. Funnily enough they dont do it out of jealousy or because they dont like the attitude of owners. They do it because they think its funny of all things.

I posted that CCTV footage from outside my house about a month back and the vandals were all people in tidy clothes who obviously had a fair few bob and had been down town no doubt blowing £80 in one night etc.

I did have chavs kick off an ultrasound cat scarer but they left the car.

I dont honestly think people are that jealous of RS Clios?

I mean most people I think would be more jealous of a 318 than a 182? Besides I cant imagine anyone keying a TVR or Caterham even though they would be dead jealous. They would key an Audi TT though even though most self respecting heterosexual males wouldnt be seen dead in one. You gotta ask what is the difference then between a TVR/Caterham and an Audi TT...

It probably says a lot that RS Clio owners think that people are jealous of their cars. I find many RS Clio owners have a hugely overinflated opinion of the car in their mind and Ive even had them trying to race my motorcycle for gods sake!!! Surely you can remember driving tales and all the BS that was spoken in there about they had done STIs and Evos etc lol. This is the same sort of attitude problem you see with Audi TT and BMW drivers and if they carry that out onto the road you can expect a lot of people to get plenty peed off with it.

I am sure most keying is done whilst drunk. In my opinion the main motive is to "teach the owner a lesson" as opposed to "you have something I cant afford so I will ruin it for you". That could be due to a personal experience with that particular owner but most likely they dont like the attitude of the people that drive that type of car in general.
Same planet different world.

Where do you work ? If knew people people did this to cars then you obviously work with the wrong people (chavs).

Its all about standards, what is acceptable and not, seems your work mates just have low standards.

Earning money has nothing to do with it.

One can have all the money in the world, and still be a chav.

Toypop, those people youre talking about are chavs: Uneducated prejudiced people - who think causing damage to a random car is funny.... or even justified, becvause theyve seen another car being driven like a c*ck by someone else.

Thanks for enlightening me to the fact that some chavs actually have decent jobs, and earn decent money, Lol!!

STU182:

Nope - we have no proof, but are 99.9% sure of who it was...

Just a matter of time before they do it again.

Sorry about the car, Omar. Probably down to the foolishness that goes with being young, and that some people never grow out of. Sad world! Anyway off now to go racing in Bristol!!

See ya, Rob669

Yeah mid twenties and earning 20k a year which is a lot in a sh1t hole like Bristol where most the jobs are in retail or admin earning 8 to 12k a year. These are educated people who have themselves been the victim of vandalism and kicked up a big enough fuss when it happened to them.

People dont grow up these days though, even at thirty they are going out on a night getting so drunk that they cant remember what they did the following morning. People dont think about their actions when they are drunk, at the time they dont care that someone will have to deal with the costs and inconvenience of repairing the damage.

Still I wouldnt have any sympathy with some of the RS Clio drivers I have seen around here if their cars got done over.

I was riding my motorcycle through a residential area at 30mph in a 30 zone and some complete c*ck in his 172 tried undertaking me - ON SINGLE CARRIAGEWAY MIND!!!!!!!!!!

You dont have to be derranged to key that w*nkers car and it will solve something - his sh1tty little shopping trolley will be in the garage for a few days instead of out on the road making a nuisance of itself!

If one car out of a whole street gets singled out you have to ask why.
I agree, and I still think mine was done because of a grudge, otherwise the flash black Audi TT with giant blinging rims in front of me would have been done.

Oh, and I dont drive like a tw*t, but did I take a parking space in my road which someone else thought they were entitled to. I still think it was them who keyed my car.

There is not one person I know who would key a car, no matter HOW drunk they got. It takes a certain mentality, and level of stupidity.

I agree, I would not even think about touching anyone elses car no matter how drunk I was! But thats due to the amount of time and money I spend on my car.

Bristol a sh*t hole? no its not, like most places, it has rough parts, but most of it is very nice.

My car is keyed a lot, had it for 3 months and already its been keyed 8 times, next year we will either be granted permanent residency (when I can put a driveway on) or be moved to a better area - until then I wont bother to get a respray, complete waste of money.

P.S - But I know who it was, revenge will be sweet.
