Another noob!

Car  SchwepTek™
So i bought myself a 400D yesterday and have spent about 6 hours taking 1 in-focus shot out of about a thousand.

All my low-light shots (in bed-room) are coming out a very yellowy colour. What am i doing wrong?

Also i am trying to do the blurred background type shots and have tried nearly every ISO with every F number and nothing is working.

I know it takes time to learn but if someone could point me in the right direction, it would be appreciated. :approve:

Have you read ukaskews guides at the top of this forum? I know they are aimed at motorsport photography, but you'll learn a hell of a lot from them.

Yeh i have read both and they are very helpful. I think its just going to be a lot of trial and error. I really don't want to go out and use AUTO mode though! :o

use a tripod for low light, it's not worth even trying freehand.

has the camera got a portrait mode? I find that works real well for the sharp forground blurred background look

The standard 18-55 lens will struggle in low light indoors. Its an average lens at best. As mentioned, a tripod will help, then when ready... delve in to the expensive and fun world of more glass!

1.25 metre aluminium tripod is £9.99 in tesco at the moment. Excellent VFM and really lightweight!

Got one then mate, wait for the clocks to change and we'll pop out to Pilning for a shoot one night. I'm still learning but I might be able to answer a few things.
