another old itb question

  172 ph1
right...i have recently been adding bits to the car (handling wise) and now starting to think about tuning the engine.

Now i know the cost of boddies is ridiculous etc but if i was to buy these http://atpowershop.co.uk/catalog/renault-throttle-bodies-assembly-direct-head-p-91.html what exactly would i need after to complete the job? and roughly how much would it cost? if its ridiculous i will probably just go down the cams route with matched inlets etc etc..

cheers,
Dan

I wouldn't use 428s for a start. Rubbish

There's a thread in my traders section about cams packages, but you'll have to pay your membership to see that

Why is the preference for DTH kits these days?

Is it just easier to manufacture/fit?

more engine specific with regard to lengths and injector position so there's a small performance advantage, they are cheaper overall, and in the case of the ones I posted, easier to fit. The generic Jenvey SF kit is fine, always works, but there's a LOT of small bolts and screws, nuts and washers, and a complicated linkage.

Is there any way of retaining the factory bonnet catch mechanism with this kit? Everyone one i see has all that removed and has bonnet pins fitted which i don't like.

Can be done retaining the catch, but without measuring it'd restrict the size of the filter you'd be able to use. Function over form.

they're done like that because it's the best way. Shortening the induction length kills off torque. Mine's so long I've only just resisted cutting holes in the bonnet inner skin for the filter to have more room. Man up ;)
